OpenAI has just launched its new AI model, ‘OpenAI 1o,’ also known internally as Project Strawberry or Q*. This new model has a remarkable feature—it can think before answering.
The ‘OpenAI 1o’ model is designed to handle more complex tasks and solve tougher problems than its predecessors, especially in areas like science, coding, and math.
What makes it stand out is its ability to reason deeply before responding. This means that the longer it takes to think, the better it performs on challenging reasoning tasks.
For example, ‘OpenAI 1o’ ranks in the top 11% for competitive programming questions, placing among the top 500 students in the US in a qualifier for the USA Math Olympiad.
It also achieves higher accuracy than many PhD experts on tests covering physics, biology, and chemistry.
Starting today, this advanced model will be available to all Plus and Team users on ChatGPT and will also be accessible through the API for developers at tier 5. This means that more people will have the opportunity to use and benefit from this cutting-edge technology.
